Surrounded by cedar forests on the edge of the Himalayas, this hillside city is home to the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan government-in-exile. It is a city of extreme contrasts with monks sitting quietly on side of the road while weaving cars, tourists and cattle occupy every square millimeter on the narrow streets.
