Approximately 100 km south of Hanoi are the Trang An Grottoes, a series of caves accessible only by water. The area was originally rice paddies which have been converted into a tourist attraction by flooding the fields and widening the caves to allow for flat-bottomed row boats to follow a trial through the grottoes. We visited the area with mist covering the mountains giving a surreal feeling to the site.
