Yom Hashoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day) is observed on the 27th of Nissan which this year corresponds to April 19th. This is a day set aside for all of us to remember and learn about the horrors of the Holocaust. From Biblical times until the present, Jews have been buried on the Mount of Olives (Har HaZeitim). During the Jordanian occupation of the site some 38,000 tombstones were uprooted and again vandals are regularly targeting the cemetery. The ongoing destruction on Har HaZeitim serves as a constant reminder of the tragedy of the Holocaust.
