In Israel’s Negev Desert the Zin River runs from the Ramon Crater, south of Be’er Sheva to the Dead Sea (approximately 120 kilometers or 75 miles). During the winter, flash floods create a rushing torrent. With the coming of summer the water level drops but the contrast between a flowing river and the arid desert that it meanders through is heightened.
